Sunday Strings presents: SARIKA Sofía Chiarandini (violin) and Maurizio Fiore Salas (Venezuelan cuatro & guitar) unite to form Sirika, an acoustic duo performing traditional and modern folkloric music of Latin America. Fueled by passion for musical exploration, Sirika aims to recreate and innovate the sounds of folklore while preserving the traditional elements of their musical inspirations.
Sofía Chiarandini, recipient of the Fletcher Bright award and Freshgrass fiddle award, blends a traditional fiddle approach with the range of technique in her classical roots. Maurizio Fiore Salas, recipient of Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation scholarships and M.M. in Jazz and Contemporary Music, synthesizes his vast musical influences to create a unique style on the Venezuelan cuatro and a completely modern approach to traditional Latin American music.
